opt-out

zacharie breaks the 4th wall and calls a characters 'player' by name (ex. saying "tango" apped him to mallowhallow).

so here is where you can opt-out of such a thing! just leave your name and characters journals you'd like him not to do this with in a handy-dandy comment.

or you can opt out of threading with him entirely if you'd like! just let me know who not to tag.

Character & Canon: Zacharie ▪ OFF
District: Mallowhallow

Personality: Zacharie is a true neutral - even though he can see Batter's true form and frequently pokes hints that he knows of his 'true intentions' during his journey, he never tries to stop him or alert the player about him. He's just the items merchant that every video game needs and he sticks to his role well. He doesn't like to blether on and likes to keep to business most of the time - more action less dialogue. What he wants as a merchant is pretty darn simple - credits, dollars, money. He gives Batter the goods, Batter gives him the money, its as simple as going to the store and buying an item there. No bargaining or haggling, there's the price, take it and go.

Even as a simple merchant, Zacharie is still kind of wrapped in mystery - he's built an entire theme park for no reason other than seeming to bring some excitement into the lives of the new world's 'people', called the Elsen. Its never explained why he built it, if he is ever around to use it himself, or even if he intends for anyone to know he did make it. Zacharie even keeps his face hidden behind a mask at all times, so perhaps he doesn't want it to be known who he might be underneath it. He's not the type to keep secrets, but Batter doesn't care enough to ask, so light is never really shed on Zacharie and his intentions other than buying and selling.

He has people he seems to care for, though, like The Judge, a helpful guide that follows Batter on his journey through the Zones. Zacharie is the only one who ever calls him by his true name - Pablo - and even dons a cat-like mask that resembles The Judge's brother Valerie after Valerie goes 'missing' (re: Batter killed him, whoops.) and The Judge isn't able to help Batter due to a broken heart. Perhaps he knew them before the world 'ended' and was remade, but we have no concrete way of knowing. he's also caught red-handed showing feelings after Batter kills Sugar, the boss of Zone 0 - and its hinted by Sugar herself that the two of them knew each-other ("Say goodbye to Zacharie for me."). His only response aside from some ellipses is that it was probably "better like that", possibly due to the fact that Sugar wasn't a natural element and only served to be like a drug to the Elsens, and eventually drove them mad when they were deprived of her element.

...so, in short, Zacharie is just your every day items merchant, that every video game needs, aha ha haha.

Questions/Comments/Concerns: Zacharie shatters the fourth wall any way he can, instead of referring to the PC Batter half the time he'll talk to the 'player' of the game by name (typed at the start of the game) and seems to know what is going on exactly at all times. This means he will absolutely SHATTER the fourth wall in Mallow, and know the player handles of people who play the characters in Mallow if I get their okay, of course. This doesn't mean he can predict the future or anything like that, however, just understand for the most part why players/characters make the decisions they do.

He also has the ability to show up conveniently wherever he is needed, and is always one step ahead of the player, purely because he's the merchant that every video game player needs - he can't teleport or anything, he'll just be where he's needed.
